Since Rockstar Games said that GTA6 is currently being made, there haven’t been many official information about the game. That happened a long time ago, in February 2022, when the news was hidden at the end of a GTA 5 Community Update. It just said, “Work on the next Grand Theft Auto game is well underway,” and since then, we haven’t heard much from Rockstar in any official role.
But on September 18, more than 90 videos and photos from an early alpha build of GTA 6 leaked online. This was the first time anything like this had ever happened. Rockstar knows about the hack and has confirmed it. They are trying to remove the information that was leaked from the internet. This first look at Grand Theft Auto 6 has, of course, shown us some new things about the game, like where it will be set, who will be in it, and how it will be played. Take-Two Interactive, which owns Rockstar, said again in August 2022 that work on GTA 6 is “well underway” as part of the company’s financial report. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick made some big promises about what GTA 6 will do: “With the development of the next Grand Theft Auto game well underway, the Rockstar Games team is determined to once again set creative benchmarks for the series, our industry, and all entertainment, just as the label has done with every one of their frontline releases.”

Well, Rockstar has now confirmed the hack in a statement: “We recently had a network intrusion, in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded sensitive information from our systems. This included early footage of the next Grand Theft Auto game, which was still in development.”
The Rockstar statement goes on to say, “We are very upset that any information about our next game was leaked in this way.” “We’ll let everyone know again soon, and when this next game is ready, we’ll show you how it works. We want to thank everyone for all the help they have given us through this.”
Since the GTA 6 leak came out 48 hours ago, the GTA Forums have been trying to get rid of all the illegally obtained screenshots and vids so that they don’t get “wiped out by Rockstar.” The special GTA 6 reddit has also taken all links, pictures, and videos of the leak offline, but it plans to stay online with one condition: “We will let you talk about the leak as long as you don’t post the leaks.” We don’t accept comments that have links to where the leak can be downloaded.”
Since then, both Rockstar and Take-Two, which owns Rockstar, have talked about the leaks. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, the company that makes GTA, said on a recent earnings call that the leak was “terrible” and that “we take these kinds of things very seriously.”
“There’s no proof that anything valuable was taken, which is good, and the leak won’t have any effect on growth or anything like that. But it’s a terrible disappointment, and it makes us even more careful about hacking.”
As soon as the new GTA 6 leak happened, some people were worried about how it would affect the development of the new Grand Theft Auto game. Since then, Rockstar has said in an official statement that the hack won’t affect the making of GTA 6 or the security of GTA 5 and GTA Online. “Right now, we don’t think there will be any problems with our live game services or long-term effects on the growth of our ongoing projects. Why is GTA 6 taking so long?
People are probably asking why it’s taking so long for GTA 6 to come out. Since GTA 5 and GTA Online have been so popular, and Red Dead Redemption 2 is so big, it’s not surprising that Rockstar is taking its time. When the company said that GTA 6 was being made, this is what they said. GTA 6 setting: Does GTA 6 take place in Vice City?

One screen shows an underground train system with the words “Vice City Metro” on it. Sharp-eyed viewers may have even seen places from GTA 3: Vice City like the Malibu Club, Ocean View Hotel, Little Haiti, and Vice Beach.
When you last went to the city, it was only natural that it looked different. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City took place in 1986, and everything points to GTA 6 taking place in the present day. Grand Theft Auto 6 is set in a modern-day version of Miami, Florida. The fact that NPCs have smartphones and wear modern clothes is proof enough, but observant social media users think a character makes a reference to the death of LifeInvader CEO, who is killed by Michael De Santa. This would mean that GTA 6 takes place after the events of GTA 5.
Even though the final GTA 6 plan hasn’t been shown yet, there are signs from the leaked video and screens that the game will be bigger than just Vice City. In the same way that Rockstar added to Los Santos between Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and GTA 5, some of the leaked screenshots seem to show all-new parts of Vice City. Now, the “Gator Keys” were talked about on the radio in the first GTA: Vice City, but the site was never shown in the game. If the pictures show what we think they do, the GTA 6 map will have a mix of different types of environments.
Fans are sure that the map for GTA 6 will be much bigger than the map for GTA 5. Fans on the GTA 6 subreddit are using leaked coordinates to try to map out the game’s plan. Later, they started putting the map together using Google Earth and Paint. Clever folks.

But the early development footage that got out shows that Rockstar is at least looking into and trying out some new game mechanics. For instance, it looks like a new set of stealth features are being added, since video shows characters crawling while lying down and even carrying bodies.
Also, the revamped weapon wheel from GTA 5 is coming back in some way, and the leaked footage seems to show that Rockstar is adding new health-boosting things like painkillers. We can also see that the Five Star “Wanted” system is coming back and that the VCPD has improved their AI processes for tracking Jason and Lucia once they have them on their radar.
